Beautiful Beverage Displays

I’m not quite sure how four months have past since my last blog post.  All I can say is being a stay at home mom is sure not an easy job!

It’s a hot summer day here and today I’m inspired by colorful drink displays.  I wanted to share a few of my favorites in hopes to feel cooler!

Sasha's drink menuA client of mine, Sasha, had me create a signature drink menu labeled “Our Favorites”.

Even if you’re having an open bar, there are plenty of ways to incorporate beautiful beverage stations.  How many of you out there drink exclusively from the signature drinks menu?

Chalkboard Magic

Before my son was born I was a fifth grade teacher.  I’m still a teacher at heart, so naturally I love writing on chalkboards.  The beautiful sound made by the connection of chalk on slate is musical, along with the sharp contrast of white and black.  Here are some beautiful chalkboard creations, along with my newest invitations collection.

Parasols – A Nice Touch

Well it certainly hasn’t shown much signs of warming up for spring here in the Northeast, but a girl can certainly dream of warm weather.  As a little girl I always loved parasols, and how delicate and colorful they could be.  What a great idea to incorporate parasols into your wedding day.  Here is some inspiration:

Warm weather must be coming soon, right?

Bursts of Yellow

The vibrant color of yellow certainly seems to make me happier in someway.  Maybe it’s because it reminds me of sunshine, or warm sunny days, or maybe because fresh lemonade is yellow.  Whatever the case I wanted to enjoy a little extra sunshine today (since it’s not outside) so I am deciding to post about the color of yellow.  I hope you have a sunny day!

A Little Wedding Sparkle

For me there’s a fine line between sparkle and tacky.  I’ve decided to go on a hunt for beautiful ways to add sparkle to your wedding without being tacky.  Success or failure?

A Look at Bridesmaids Dresses

While I loved my bridesmaid dresses at the time, I look back and wish I would have done a little more searching for dresses my girls could have really used over again.  I think there are two ways to accomplish this: 1. the color has to be neutral enough and 2. the style of it has to be one that does not scream “I am a bridesmaid dress”.  I’ve been to many weddings since mine where the bride has accomplished this with no problem.  While it’s definitely a nice clean look when all of the maids have the same exact dress, I also like when each has her own shade and texture dress that looks best on her.  Here are some ideas to help you brainstorm this task:

maids1I love the different colors and textures here.  I’m thinking this style might be a great pick for a rustic, outdoorsy wedding.  {Source}

maids2This taffeta rose colored dress if just adorable.  A-line dresses always look good and this color is neutral enough to not scream bridesmaid dress, while having a little color to add interest.  {Source}

maids3This J. Crew dress is so cute for wearing out, but can easily also double for a bridesmaid dress.  {Source}

maids4This is adorable!  Polka dots might be a little brave, but I just love this dress!  Very vintage feeling.  {Source}

maids5So this dress isn’t neutral, but everyone needs a red dress in their closet!  This dress is maid by Kimera Design, which is a wonderful designer to work with.  She does all custom work and her results are beautiful!

I’m now realizing that all of the dresses I picked are cocktail length.  I’ll work on another post in the near future for floor length dresses.  Until then!

What can you do with Washi Tape?

So along the lines of our DIY theme that will be weaved in and out of our upcoming posts, today I wanted to write about washi tape.  You’ve seen it all over Etsy and there are some super crafty people out there using it to spruce up just about everything!  Here are some ideas:

As you can see, washi tape can be a great way to add pizzazz to something that needs a punch of color and pattern.  From garland to giving plane vases a facelift, to transforming clothes pins and guest books, to adding a special touch to your invitation envelopes, washi tape is a designers friend!

Wedding Programs Galore!

There are countless ways to make a beautiful program, and many of them you can do yourself with a little time and patience.  Here are some designs that caught my eye:

program 1This is a simple enough assembled program, but what I love about this one is the beautiful hand drawing on the front.  {Source: Ruffles & Tweed}

program 3These look like alternating colored bags closed with fun clothes pins.  While these could be used for favors, having programs in little baggies is a fun idea too.  I love the pop of color and simple design.  {Source}

Program 2I love the flag on top and the stick.  Interesting combination.  {Source}

program 4Program fans are perfect for a beach wedding, or for any summer wedding for that matter.  {Source}

program 5I thought this was really cute to include a tissue inside the program.  {Source}

program 6Adding confetti right into the program is a great idea.  {Source}

Wedding by the Sea

As I look outside and the sun is setting on the snow covered hills of Upstate New York, I’m longing for turquoise waters and a golden beach.  In the coming weeks I’m hoping to work on some nautical, beachy themed wedding invitations, but for now I’ll include a few inspirational photos that are getting my vision in focus.
